All Sports on the Web

Well as you can see from the date on my previous post, allsports does not do much writing for sports news or sports on the web on this blog anymore. I find it hard enough to keep up with my two main blogs.

The two in question would be All Sports on the Web which is my main sports blog and my baseball blog which by the way sells quality baseball gloves and baseball bats at great prices. The baseball blog is called Web Market Industries and once you are there look for the news link to find baseball related articles.

Sports is allsports main passion but he has decided to delve into a couple of other niches which he believes can be helpful to others who are trying to get started on the internet.

The first is a how to on blogging to get people started if they think they may want to start a blog of their own. Although I am by no means a blogging master I think I can help others with some things I have learned. It is generic in nature and can be helpful in any blog niche. Allsports Blog Academy can be very useful in getting people started in the blogging field.

The second is a guide for affiliate marketing on the internet and marketing in general. Allsports Web Marketing talks about looking at affiliate programs and separating the wheat from the chaff in deciding what program to get involved in. It is a good starting point for newbies to get their feet wet in web based business.

When everything is said and done though the most important elements for long term success are branding yourself and acting with integrity in anything you choose to do. Also keep in mind that at the end of the day "Content is King" and quality content with valuable information will last for years to come.

Well that's about it for allsports at this location. The link will stay live but if you want to read allsports content in the future go to the links provided above.

To everyone out there in cyber land, keep your stick on the ice.

A bad way to end the season at home.

April 3 2008

Well the leafs were just plain bad tonight in their home finally of the season. I guess that is what happens when you

only play 20 minutes of hockey and the game is 60 minutes long. Everyone from Vesa Toskala out was off their game

tonight as the leafs lost 8-2 to the Ottawa Senators.

They played ok in the first period, but in the second the wheels fell off and Ottawa scored 5 or was it 6 straight

goals. The penalty killing was brutal as usual and the power play was nonexistent. Of course the game had much more

meaning for Qttawa which is also running the risk of not making the playoffs. Anyway the leafs close out the season in

Montreal on Saturday night.

Toronto Rattles Sabres playoff hopes

Andrew Raycroft started his first game in about 6 weeks against the Buffalo Sabres tonight and played pretty well

considering he had been on the bench for about the last 30 games. The leafs had a 2-0 lead after the first period and it

was all thanks to Raycroft who was solid in the net. Buffalo out shot Toronto 11-5 in that period but could not beat Raycroft.
Buffalo scored one in the second and then got a gimme from the ref in the third to tie it up. The ref had to be related

to superman to count this goal because he would have needed X-ray vision to see the puck in the net before it was

dislodged. Toronto went up 3-2 with about 6 minutes left in the game on a nice passing play that was finished off by

Alex Steen. But like so many games for the leafs this year, they just could not finish off Buffalo and allowed they to

tie it up. Overtime solved nothing and then Buffalo won it in a shoot out.
Brian McCabe was pretty brutal again and just re-confirms that he may be a 2-2.5 million dollar defenseman, but he sure

is not a 5 million dollar one which John Ferguson assumed he was. The leafs will likely trade him or buy him out this

off season.
Anyway Andrew Raycroft deserved a win tonight but his teammates could not deliver one for him.

The Toronto Maple Leafs

March 20 2008
Well hear we are on the outside looking in AGAIN. The leafs have been playing pretty good hockey lately but as the old saying goes, “to little to late”. I guess what frustrates the life out of me is why can’t they play like this earlier in the season instead of frittering away points, then waking up when there back is to the wall and trying to scrabble to get in. They still have a mathematical shot at getting there but that is pretty remote. It is not just that they have to catch one team, no they have to catch four or five teams. So even if a team like philly folds ( which I believe they will) you still have to catch the Sabers and Bruins too. They also play against each other too so someone is going to get points there. I just think they are going to run out of games no matter how good they play. At least they are making it interesting.

Poor Carlo Colaiacovo, the guy has great talent, moves the puck, takes the body well. If healthy he could be the leafs best defenseman. That does not seem to be happening though. He suffered a torn groin muscle during the first period of Tuesday's game against the Islanders and is out 4-6 weeks. This guy has no luck at all. In the 5 years he has been in the league he has only played about 100 games total. He has suffered enough injuries for a 20 year career already. Hopefully he will finally get some luck on his side and be able to play a full season, but I don’t know he sure seems snake bitten.

On the game Tuesday night you have to give the leafs credit and special marks to Vessa Toskla. He and the rest of the team could have folded after the 174 foot shorthanded goal he let in Tuesday night. Instead he shook it off, laughed about it and played great the rest of the way in a 3-1 win. That’s the attitude a goalie needs to play in this league. Were you watching Mr. Raycroft. To bad that Vessa will be on every blooper real for years to come.
Anyway that’s it for another day

Feb 26 2008

Well here we go again. The script is starting to look the same again. You know the one. Let’s start to play hockey and get some wins once our backs are pushed right against the wall. We’ll make a desperate run for a playoff spot and since we played inconsistent hockey for three quarters of the season will come up just short. The outcome will be no playoffs and we will play just good enough to screw up any chance of getting a good pick in the lottery draft in June.

First off thanks Mats, I know it was your right to refuse a trade but for the long term good of the franchise you should have let yourself be traded so the club could have got some good young prospects for you. Then if you felt so inclined you could have signed on for another year with the team in the summer. What’s wrong do you not care if you get the chance to play for the Stanley cup, is your summer cottage in Sweden calling to you that much that you need to get there in April. I mean even in the years that you did make it to the big dance you seemed to come up lame and could not dance much. Usually as a playoff performer you were just a shadow of your former self anyway. Do you not care about the Stanley Cup, is it not something that drives European born players the way it drives Canadian youth. Don’t give me that crap that you are not in agreement with the whole rent a player idea, come on that is the nature of the whole business and it always will happen. I did not see you on your high horse there a few years ago when the leafs gave up the farm in order to get Brian Leech for the stretch run and the playoffs. If I remember correctly you seemed to think it was a pretty good idea at the time. If you truly cared for the franchise the way you say you do, you should have allowed yourself to be traded for badly needed youth. Hey Mats did you ever think that maybe they could have used the pick they got for you to get a quality winger which you could have played with if you decided to come back next year.
Now all the other guys with a no trade clause in their contract are saying they don’t want to go either. Just great now were stuck with overpriced vets that will play just well enough to miss the playoff’s by a couple of points. News Flash guys, you’re just not good enough, sooner or later someone will make a bone head play that will cost the game and chances are it will be the difference of being in or not. Even if you did the unthinkable and made the playoffs, how deep do you think you would go into them? You lack team toughness and now your toughest guy will be lining up against you tomorrow night because he got traded to Florida today.
Good work by John Ferguson here too, not only did you sign guys for more than they were worth but then gave them a no trade clause so they can hang around. Not that many other GM’s in the league would be interested in them anyway with the contracts they were given. No it is a sorry state of affairs when the interest starts and finishes with Mats Sundin. Mats may end up being known more for crippling the franchise he loves than for being the all time leading scorer. Cliff Fletcher’s hands have been tied for trying to get the organization out of the mess Ferguson and Petty have put them in. Things will remain bleak until Ferguson’s contracts run out or the guys he signed start to play at the level with which they are being paid. Frankly I can’t see that happening.
Well leaf fans stay patient as it looks like we are going to have a few more rather bleak years in the near future before this leadership stench can be washed away.
Just to update Cliff Fletcher did trade Wade Belak and Chad Kilger to Florida for a 5th and 3rd round draft choice. He also sent Hal Gill to Pittsburgh for a 2nd round choice. Gill was Toronto’s biggest and likely toughest defenseman, so I think the team toughness issue took another hit. This cleared a little bit of cap room but not much. The culprits are the ones with the no trade clauses. Maybe they should look in the mirror and realize the team is not going anywhere with them on board.
